Why are start dates automatically appending to job titles?
We’ve recently changed the way job titles work on Prosple. To make it easier for both students and employers to distinguish between roles that might otherwise have the same name, we’re now automatically appending the start date to the title of your role.
But why…?
If you’re thinking this sounds familiar, then you’re not going crazy. Pre-2022 we required employers to include the starting year of their program in the title.
For the last 2 years, however, we’ve been asking employers to re-use their annual jobs (and hence keep the date/year out of title). This had some SEO benefits and saved some of you time, but it has also caused new challenges:
- Employers couldn’t easily distinguish applicants or compare performance between successive years
- Students couldn’t easily apply for the same program two years in a row
We researched several alternative solutions (for example introducing cohorts) and user tested these with many of you, but unfortunately none of them provided a perfect solution.
We have therefore decided to revert our policy and have the commencement date back on the titles. You don't have to add these manually though. It will automatically show based on the start date placed on the opportunity.
